Secure backup or primary use drive
« on: 16 Nov 2010, 03:16 pm »
My current setup is Mac Mini with two drives (FW800) at my listening area. One has music files and the other is partioned with the OS and music files. Both drives are 1TB and I use SuperDuper! as my backup program.

I would like to have my backup (OS and music files) to a drive that is located in a different location within my home in my safe. This way one drive is always secure. I have power and cooling in the safe so that's not an issue.

What are my options? Wiring is probably an issue. I can get an antenna out of the safe if need be so wireless would work but getting Cat 5 from the Extreme to the safe would be a bit difficult.

I'm sure a wired Drobo system would be ideal.  Then again, maybe not.  That's why I'm here!

I use an Airport Extreme as my router setup with 5 Ghz.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Maybe the powerline Ethernet technology would help with this? (No experience myself.)
