Is that allowed here?
Right off the bat I can tell you I am a Bob Carver fan.

Welcome AgentOrange...

It would be best to list your gear in the Trading post area where everyone will see it, and the moderator can help you have a smooth sale. Then if you want to post a link to the listing thread here in Carolina Audiophiles circle it is OK with me. But discussion about the sale should remain in the Trading Post thread.

No, I don't have anything for sale, just wondering what you guys use to play the tunes.

I am a geezer and don't understand all you listed.  I bet it is great and hope we can go over it in days ahead as you explain it to me, and the sound.  I live back in the woods, seldom have a visitor.

Like most, I have more than one system.  My best junk is in my RedNeck Bar, but the system I play most resides on the deck.  I am an avid backyard bird watcher and like to play tunes too loud as I drink real beer out there.

This is not a yard system, it is just outdoors. The speakers are adjusted about six feet from my head and aimed to make the "sweet spot" my old chair. It has the power to put waves on the lake from here, but I seldom crank it up like that. With speakers near, it plays clear sweet music at lower volumes.
The sub woofer is right beside my chair and adds feel to the music as well as sound. Since the speakers are rated to 80, a good sub adds a lot.
The speakers are rated to 440 watts and the amp puts out over 600 watts to each as they are 6 ohm so you see this is a good match for stereo as the head room is high with power to spare. Like many, I have a few amps, but this is my favorite and will never be for sale until I'm dead.

I have a tiny computer assembled out here as my music server. I have a SSD drive in it to deal with the high Summer temps and to play quiet with no need of a fan. Over 20K FLAC tunes are a mouse click away as well as internet radio and my music video collection.
I spend way to much time out there as I prefer it to being inside.

My music gear is my vintage starter that represents my nostalgia for the equipment I couldn't afford as a teenager in the late 70s and early 80s:

Pioneer SX-950 receiver
Pioneer HPM-100 speakers
Acoustic Research AR-2 speakers
Technics SL-D2 turntable
Yamaha CDX-560 CD player

It's wicked loud and punchy with just enough clarity for my primary listening, late 60s and early 70s hard rock, and any blues record.

I also had a wicked good time searching and wheeling and dealing for each component for two years.

My next system is coming together now. It's a major step up in sound and visual quality. It also satisfies my wildest nostalgia dreams. Details and pix very soon.

I like that.  It reads like a system from a Travis McGee novel.

I too like and prefer vintage gear.

I'm sort of mid-fi:
Polk 2000 mains
CS650. xs-6500 rt800s in the rear
Outlaw 990 processor and 770 amp
Oppo 83se
Sony megachangers (2 cd and 2 dvd)
Grant fidelity tube buffer
other misc. and various spigetti connecting it all

Not meant to impress, but it 's got good imaging and soundstage and my music sounds good enough to be enjoyable.

Cary audio sould give in-state discounts !
