SVS 3000 Micro anyone?
« on: 8 May 2021, 03:06 pm »
Anyone out there experienced the SVS 3000 Micro dual opposed 8 inch subwoofers?

Always looking for musical small subwoofers to use as a stereo pair.

Like the idea of opposing woofers but not much smaller than the cheaper SVS SB-1000 that specs out slightly better.

I have to consider size.

Didn't KEF just come out with a small sub, too? Don't recall the model number, but you can't miss it if you see it - all rounded corners, and said to be the size of a soccer ball (or football, as they say ).

The KEF uses 6.5 inch drivers and that's to small for me.

I think the KEF is also twice the price or some such.

I have an SB1000 and I think it's huge.  I also have some Velodyne SC8 that are a good size.  I was thinking SC10s would be better but couldn't find any.

I talked to the SVS folks about this.  Its a great choice in smaller rooms.    My room is 24 x17 x 10, so they said even a pair of them would not suffice.

The sub out of the box was awful but dialing it in and some time on it it's a keeper.

You should also consider a Martin Logan Dynamo 800x which has a small footprint.  I use  2 very old original Dynamo's in my 17'x17' room with 9' ceilings. One sounded very good in the room. The 800x is non ported and uses a 10" driver.  It is rated at 24-200 Hz +/- 3db.

You can find used Dynamo 700's for a good price.  It is the older version but it does not have an app I think.

Looks like those ML 800's are significantly bigger: 14.6" x 12.4" x 12.7"

Thx for the suggestions but I won't buy a sub without adjustable phase by 1 degree.
