Gain Option for TX103's
« on: 6 May 2003, 01:44 pm »
Hello!

The TX103 Moving Coil Stepup has 3 possible gains it can be wired for. These gains are 1:5 (14dB) or 1:10 (20dB) or 1:20 (26 dB). The usual way is to pick one gain that suits your setup and wire it for that.  By far the most popular settings are 1:10 and 1:20.

I have had requests from several guys recently who have more than one cartridge they run on a regular basis - sometimes with quick swap removable arm tubes. Lucky buggers...

Some of these guys want to switch gain easily and so I have added an option for switching from 1:10 to 1:20 via a toggle switch. This option is described at the bottom of the MC step-up page.

Thanks!

Hello!

Quick follow-up. No sooner did I post that 1:5 stepups are rarely used than diod I run into a fellow who needed this ratio! I had some clear head time early today and came up with an easy way to do it. We'd  add a 1:5 toggle that changes 1:10 mode to 1:5.  Now if needed all 3 gain's can be switch selectable.

Thanks!
