Very interesting, looks a great amp.
I had never listened amorphous core OPTs,
do you could say something on its sound?

Just got them, give me a few days but out of the box it's very natural and tonal, seductive but still have some punch to them.  A little like putting the best of a 45 and 300B in a blender maybe?

Those are some beautiful amps. I haven't been impressed with tubes in the past but I just sent for a Musical Paradise 301mk III to try out with my horns. If I find that there is the nice symmetry there that people often speak of I'll probably move up into some quality products like those.

Hey Ka, those are some 1940's RCA ST types.  Would love to try the globes, let me know if you want to come by for a listen!

Thanks, I'm actually going to be carrying this line so maybe time for me to move to Industry Participant status...

I heard the Destination Audio 45 amps with his horn speakers at AXPONA last year.

One of the "best sounds at show", IMHO...  :thumb:

hi Art, Love to hear your set up, I have several pairs of 50s, Globe, ST19 and small bottle ST16 type, unfortunately no mesh plate or 4 pillar.
I'll email you to set up a time.

I'm really curious about the amorphous core transformers - are the a clear step up over regular transformers?

Certainly they are a step up and are expensives, amorphous cores are high quality cores I have seen in small power tube amps, the Yamamoto 45 amp use all transformers in Amorphous cores.

Sometimes the core material and shape is choosed according the output circuit as the core materials have important sound differences.

Worth mention Amorphous dont corrode as the various steel metals cores, a important feature in the long run.

Sounds like that Type 50 amp would be real nice. I'm considering one - different overall topology - for my next design/build.

I'm really curious about the amorphous core transformers - are the a clear step up over regular transformers?

Amorphous apparently sound "different": resolved without being harsh, when well designed. Core size and winding geometry should be chosen carefully - simply substituting in amorphous for other steel grades as some have done is not ideal and leads to a tilted up sound with weak/soft bass.

Certainly they are a step up and are expensives, amorphous cores are high quality cores I have seen in small power tube amps, the Yamamoto 45 amp use all transformers in Amorphous cores.

I've never seen that mentioned before - thought they were high-B silicon iron types.

The EML Type 50 tubes are supposed to be very good. From memory, DHT Rob did a brief review, preferring the EMLs to a few different types of NOS, including globe.

Cheers.
