Looking for a A/V-3S x-over pic
« on: 17 Jan 2014, 08:34 pm »
Like the subject line says...  I'm looking for a pic of a crossover for a A/V-3S (center speaker)
I've found pics for the A/V-3 towers, which split the woofer/tweeter circuits on to 2 of the braces, but I've also found the post where Danny says he puts the whole circuit on a board that slides into a woofer hole on the 3S.  That's what I'd like to do.

Thanks for any help you can give  :D

Cheers,  Scott

No one can help me out with this?  :(

When it comes to the woodworking,  I'm all good.  But I just don't seem to have the aptitude for the electronics.
The diagrams are clear enough,  it just eludes me how to put it all together.
A picture or diagram showing the physical layout would be so much appreciated.

Thanks again for any help you may have,
Cheers,  Scott

Scott, I looked around and did not have a pic of the crossover assembled.

I have a diagram for the A/V-3S in picture form though. Shoot me over an e-mail and I'll forward it over to you.

OK, so I'm still trying to wrap my head around the layout for the board for the A/V-3S x-over
I thought maybe I would start out with the x-overs for the surrounds,  as they looked simpler.  I found a pic of these in the crossover 101 thread, and copied the layout that Ron had used (thanks Ron  :)).  At least that gave me a start.  Here's what I came up with :

The wiring looks a bit different than Ron's',  but I believe it is correct...  another view:

I'd appreciate it if someone could verify that it won't blow up on me  :D
I sized it to fit nicely on the bottom of the cabinet.

I would still like to see a pic of the physical layout of the board for a A/V-3S.  The pictograph diagrams just seem to confuse me.
I'm still hoping someone can help me out.   :?

OK,  I finally just bit the bullet, and came up with this :

Hopefully, the wiring is correct  :?

The reason for the odd shape is this allows the finished board to go through the tweeter opening when the front baffle is attached.
It's a bit of a squeeze but just makes it.
It fits nicely between the two baffles behind the tweeter, with minimal interference to the internal (I think  :))

Is there any reason not to use this same setup on the A/V-3 towers ?  Like this:

I'm happy to finally have gotten over this hurdle (I hope)
What a painful process it's been!
I'm looking forward to moving on.

Thanks for your help Danny  :)
Cheers,  Scott
