John Casler

I received this in the old e-mail box the other day and thought some might be interested.

I don't think Bob will mind if I "copy and paste" his post here.

I plan on attending.  Last meeting was kind of geeky and fun.

How was the meeting?  Sounded like great fun.  Too bad I can't afford to go to these type of things.  Gives me too much gear lust.

Thanks for the invitation John Casler.  I had a great time yesterday meeting you, Mad Dog and Jon L as well as some of the positive feedback guys like Bob Levi, Danny Kaey and Dave Clark.  The gear we heard was impressive and its always fun to check out the music people bring to these events.  Dave Clark spun a jazz/ambient CD by Miles Gurtu that was mind blowing!  Definitely going to have to pick that up.

Looking forward to the next meeting.

Hi All,

Yep it sure was nice to see everyone, and get to hear some gear.

I tried to talk up "AudioCircle" a bit at the meeting.

The next meeting should be pretty cool with Albert Von Schweikert (sp)
and probably Spectron amps driving them.

Very "eclectic" group these audiophiles.

The real story is the tweaking of my system, that Mad Dog and I did after the meeting.

WOW! is all I can say. (Of course my new speaker cables and IC's helped a lot)

What'll it take to get you guys to come down and tweak my rig?  I think I've got it pretty dialed in for both stereo and M/C.  But I'm always looking for a fresh perspective.

So John, what tweaks were done?  Still using the AQ cables/ic's?

Hi George,

Yep!  Just hooked up the AQ "Volcano" Speaker Cables and the "Cheetah" IC's and while pricey they are the best overall cables I have ever heard or used.

Keep in mind this is with my system and room, but Mad Dog (who has some of the best ears going) felt that we reached a new level too.

As far as the "tweak", that will be under raps for a short time until we sort out its use a bit more.

Since it was not completed totally we still have another phase to do, but unless my ears were deceiving me  :D  this little tweak can add some of the "finest detail and resolving power" I have ever heard.

The good thing is, it is not an expensive tweak.  I think around $75 or so.

To offer a bit more.  We used Bela Fleckand the Flecktone's "Flight of the Cosmic Hippo",  "To Where you Are", a Josh Groban cut, and "Duende", by BlackLight Syndrome.

The Bela Fleck and the Blacklight Syndrome cuts are exceptional for system evaluation, being well engineered and providing just about every performance parameter nessesary to testing and hearing system/room capabilities.
