Hi,
I'm new to this forum.
I have a pair of outdated 7XRS (H29 x W11 x D8" ). Overall in good condition but one of the driver has died.
Looking for advise on best fit/suitable driver replacement. No choice, will take any brands. Will change driver for both speakers.
I'm new to DIY. What should I do besides replacing the drivers.
Thanks in advance for all the assistance.
Regards
HansH

Welcome! btw

Do you could email Louis for replacement drivers.
You need just replace the drivers, seems there is no crossover or nocht filters to modify the music signal.
-
That’s exactly what I would do and get in touch with Louis. I’ve dealt with Louis a few times, more tgan than a few… 😁 I’ve been to his shop and Louis is a blast to interact with.
Definitely reach out!

Many thanks for all the info and suggestions.
Best regards

Some drivers manufactures have cone/vc/suspension kit to replace in the basket/magnet if you have experience on it.

Hi,
I dismantled my driver today and found a bundle inside my super 7XRS as attached picture.
Is this some kind of filter or crossover?
As I'm totally new in DIY, should I remove it when replacing new driver ?

That’s the port.
-
Correct, this is the Bass Reflex duct.
-
Oh, I see. My earlier query was due to 2 fine tiny wires on the bundle.
Glad to know is just a bass duct. Highly appreciate your invaluable info.
Have a great day.

Those wires are interesting. Having no insulation, they certainly don’t look like they are intended to carry electrical signals. I have no idea what their purpose is.
-
I would imagine they belong to the duct assembly grid.

little glue gun glue

This duct dont look a bassreflex duct, it could be a Aperiodic duct.
