Oops!     Sorry everyone!  It is stated in the manual : Overload = 250 mV. at 1kHz

If I understand this correctly, does that mean that in order not to overload the preamp, input voltage should be < 250 mV at normal operating conditions?

Thanks

Correct.  Overload is the input amplitude at 1kHz that starts to clip or distort the output.  In the case of CORNET, this happens at the input of the 2nd gain stage.  Typically you need at least 20dB or so above the nominal rating.
