There isn't too much country I like. The vintage stuff is too twangy, some of the classic stuff is alright, and the modern stuff is like modern Pop music (most of it doesn't interest me).

They should delete both kinds of music; Country, and Western.

...and then we can all shoot our speakers from being bored by New Wave/Age music whose lyrics are misheard.

New Wave was a 1980s english pop genre after the stink Punk Rock, no much related to New Age/Meditation music, unfortunately there is few good songs on New Wave, one is this:

Depends on what one considers to be country.  I like all of these, and they're all new artists:

Pistol Annies (eg, Interstate Gospel)
Brothers Osborne (eg, Port Saint Joe)
Ashley Monroe (eg, Sparrow)
Chris Stapleton (eg, Traveller)
The Steeldrivers (eg, Reckless) (has Chris Stapleton)

These are the only ones I see in my new music.

I'm listening on random play of my music collection, and a song from Sparrow by Ashley Monroe came up.  I really think that is a great CD, nearing masterpiece level.

Alison Krauss - Windy City 2017

Alsion Krauss' latest album has her singing traditional country favorites she likes, a much different album than her Union Station bluegrass recordings so a surprise at first listen but her voice is still a wow!
What makes the sound so special is the album was recorded using the Requisite L7 directly coupled condenser microphone with no preamp, no compression, no equalization, no de-essing. Alison's vocals have a very wide dynamic range with absolutely no sibilants. The 180 gram vinyl is very dynamic and quiet.

Billboard interview: https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/7694424/alison-krauss-interview-windy-city-album

Alison with the Requisite L7 microphone which features:
Tube preamplifier
tube head-amplifier
all-tube power supply and regulation, using 5AR4/G234 and 12DW7 vacuum tubes
output driver is a 6SN7 running class A, in push-pull configuration
audio at input is through two silver-in-oil coupling caps

Would that be "New" Country or Classic ? Classic Country wit we are talking with Guitar, violin, harp, banjo, foot stomping and whiskey now we are talking. Acoustic "Live" Country baby. Pick your artist.

As a lover of opera, jazz, classical, folk, world, and Country, I believe people who say they don't like country and often add they hate "twang" are really closed minded, and missing a lot of great music. To the list, I would add Hank Williams, Lucinda Williams, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash (and his daughter Roseanne) Ry Cooder (some of his songs) and many others. As a serious audiophile, I find many wonderful albums in this category. However, I find most modern pop country is junk.

I did like Glen Campbell. Glen toured with the Beach Boys at one time.

Glen got to tour with the Beach Boys also. He replaced Brian Wilson for a short time in 1964. Glen played bass and sang Brian's high notes.

I've mentioned these folks a few times elsewhere over the years, Asleep At The Wheel. Their corner of country is referred to as Texas/Western Swing. They've been around for ages, and have a couple of tribute albums to Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys, who as best I can tell was a founding father of that corner, or at least one of the best known back in the day.

You'll find many of the artists previously mentioned on these tributes. They're music is simply good & fun. A sample on a classic    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vifUaZQL8pc

Hope you enjoy.
