Trying to identify the drivers in these norh 3.0
« on: 16 Jul 2017, 10:59 pm »
Hello: I have a couple of norh 3.0 speakers and one of the drivers is worse for wear. Does anyone know what type of driver it is and where they can be located?

I don't know about the 3.0 Norh speakers, but the earlier models used Scan Speak midbass drivers and tweeters.  You can purchase them here in the U.S. at Madisound... www.madisound.com.  Pull the damaged / worn driver out and look it over to see if you can get more info about exactly what model it is.

I thought they were Fostex, but they may be Tang Band

Here are the specs from the current nohr site

•Frequency response: 75Hz to 20,000 Hz.
•Maximum constant power is 20 watts
•Sensitivity 87 dB
•Magnetically shielded

Thank you all for your help!  Yes, I had initially thought that they were ScanSpeak but could never get the guys at Norh to reply to my requests for replacement information.  On looking over things, I think it is the Tang Band. Anyway, most appreciative of the assitance.

Yes they are definitely Tang Band.

Various higher end nOrhs do have ScanSpeak drivers.

These 3.0 Drums were considered a real value by pretty much everyone.

Can I assume these are 8 ohm speakers?

I would assume its 8 ohms, if you have a volt meter the dc resistance should be around 5 or 6 ohms for an 8 ohm impedance.
Most likely the exact replacement to match the other one will be a difficult find.
Companies like Tang band have a slew of driver choices and may have discontinued the one in your speakers.
Tang band makes several drivers that would work, but you would have to buy a pair, they are pretty cheap, maybe $30.
Ebay may have cheaper ones.
Measure the cone diameter if its a 3" a Tang Band W3-593SF 3" Full Range would work.

Thank you Greg, I very much appreciate the help. I do love the Norh speakers. but hey never reply to any emails and so it was a bit of a challenge to find the right driver. I will replace them both with the W3-593SF.

Many Thanks MW
