Ya'll want to do culture a favor?  I hope you do.  Rice University radio (KTRU) is a student run station who is considering a bid, not the student body mind you, from the Univ of Houston to sell their program space and close their doors.  At this site http://savektru.org/ you can read the protests and about the efforts to stop this and add your name and a comment if you wish by scrolling down to the third paragraph.  KTRU has the most diverse programming and the most incredible library of any station I've heard in my years.  You can stream it from anywhere, also.  Thank you.  me

From what I'm reading, this sale will not shut down KTRU. All Rice is trying to sell is their transmitter which is only of a local community airwave concern. They will still transmit via the internet which is the main concern of any listener beyond the local transmitting radius and the bigger picture overall. I see this as a local concern only. Am I missing something here Jim?

Thanks, Robin.  A whole lots of us chickens down here listen on the car radio.  You can pick it up over a 100 mile radius.  There is nothing like it.  Check their programming at http:/www.ktru.org/.  There is a lot of concern down here and in the school itself that this is the beginning of the end for KTRU.

Well it's not that I don't feel for ya Jim, I just don't see it as a global concern. Sorry. But you have peaked my curiosity so after our Dallas Cowboys get done shootiing themselves in the foot, hand and head,,, I'll give KTRU a listen thru my J. River Media Ctr. Maybe that'll stir some compasion for your situation,,,, this GD football game sure as hell isn't doin' it!
