Cheaper source for spikes than this---> ???
« on: 14 Jun 2010, 06:35 pm »
Here's the spikes Im looking at so I can top off my rack with butcher block:

http://www.oregondv.com/15spike.htm

I need the 'custom thread type' of 5/16th for the existing threaded holes on my rack... @ $15.75 ea. x 8 (for two racks) is a kicker!

Any other source for these or something close to it for cheaper?

Thanks

 Jason

You might want to poke around eBay, there are a number of vendors selling something similiar (Brass, 1.25"D, 1.5"H, 5/16-18 thread).

One source is ronays-tweeks out of Lizella, Georgia with 100% positive feedback.  http://cgi.ebay.com/Speaker-Spikes-Floor-Standing-Stands-Stand-Reg-Cones-/280514604506?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item414ff92dda

He sells a set of 4 in the 5/16-18 thread for $34.50 (The link is for M6 thread @ $26.50, but says you can get the 5/16-18 thread for +$8.00).  Shipping is $7.80 for the first set and $3.90 each additional set.

That would get them down to $8.63 ea. or $10.09 ea. shipped.

I purchase the ones I use in my racks from Madisound: http://www.madisound.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=yung&categories_id=&search_in_description=1&inc_subcat=1 (I don't have the volume to buy directly from the manufacturer. :()  The linked spikes are exactly what Adona sells.  I know; I purchased the spikes for my prototype rack from the same eBay seller/Adona.

EDIT: I missed you required 5/16" threading.  You are stuck with Adona/eBay and/or Oregon DV/Soundocity.  They are the only sources I know of for that thread size.
