I got a pair of the base Mars S about 10 days ago by word of mouth. So far, I have no intention of taking them up on the return policy. I've had a pair of Paradigm studio 40s for 2 years and never loved them, but never found anything under 2500 that I liked enough to replace them with. For a little over 1000 I now have sound that makes me want to stay up late and stay home from work. It's been a long time since an audio purchase gave me that feeling. I listen mostly to jazz and light modern stuff, and the music in my living room is convincing. I gave up some bass response switching from the Studio 40s, but the mids and highs are so much better. Neil called me back 3 times to answer my questions before I finally bought. Good service and very good speakers. I just wish I had the scratch to buy the improved version. Sure would like to see the economy turn around.
As a guiter player, I recommend these for anyone looking for realistic sound at realistic levels.
