I've got about a dozen off this list- and the whole "best" list is silly.
My top picks would include sooo many that they don't include:   Getz/Gilberto, Santana, CS&N, Rachmaninoff 2nd Concerto w/ Richter, Chopin Mazurkas w/Rubinstein, Innervisions
My list would be a horrible for someone focusing primarily on hip hop and thinks classical is boring noise.  Even picking Santana over Django Reinhart is silly, because they do different things, even if both are on the guitar.

Nico and the V.U.--- ??? Interesting, different for the time, but not exactly great music.
Iggy Pop...   I'd sooner listen to Snoop.

Guess Esquire was looking' to get people talking.  This one always does the trick.

I'd not get caught dead with half of this list, but one man's treasure is another man's trash.

There's nothing more subjective than music likes and dislikes...and I really dislike these types of lists.    With that said, how can Pink Floyd's DSOTM not be included here?

How could they leave off Billy Ray Cyrus' "Boot-Scootin' Boogie?"     :duh:

I didn't get through the whole list (constant ads turned me off); but it doesn't feel like the author put in much effort. Too many misses for one, and too often the wrong recording chosen (James Brown's live recording referenced is not as good as his studio recording; for example)

No Zappa, no Tull, no YES.

That list sucked . . .  But I did have 7.

No DSOTM . . . is that guy even a real person?

Rubber Soul over Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper?

There are so many omissions it's sad, but the only point of these things is to stir up debate.

Well I counted 16 for me. The choices were a little strange. No Rush, Yes, Sonic Youth. Missing a few of the essentials.
