Classical Guitar

All this talk on NPR over 'Milos' a new act in the guitar world has made me want to pick up a guitar cd or sacd.

First of all I can't seem to find information on the production value on his newly released cd - does anyone want to comment on this?

Is there a "must have" guitar album I have missed. I would be looking for audiophile audio quality.

THANKS!

I don't have a comment on Milos....
But I'm quite partial to David Russell, Air on a G String, is a good place to start, nice selection and sonics are pretty damn good IMHO

I'm not sure if they are audiophile quality but EMI released some of Christoper Parkening's albums a couple years ago that were very good.  One is called "Grace Like A River" and I think you will enjoy it.  I really enjoy his performances of Bach.  I've seen Parkening live and he's an amazing performer.  I have not heard an album that can capture the live sound but they are very entertaining either way.

Andre Segovia and Julian Bream are the two classical guitar masters I would investigate first.
Their recordings were taken during the analog era.

Anders Miolin recordings with the BIS label are wonderful. This album, which I highly recommend, is played very often at my home:

The Melbourne Guitar Quartet, out of Australia, recently released their 'Toccata' CD - easily the most enjoyable and best-sounding guitar disc I've ever heard. They play a range of nylon-strung classical guitars - bass, baritone, standard, treble and octave - to achieve a sound with a range and balance more akin to a classical string quartet. The recording quality, soundstage and dynamics are staggering; one of those discs you pull out when a visitor comes to the house just to see their jaw drop (admit it - we all do it  :) )! Yet the music's so good you listen to it for pleasure too.

Expensive on Amazon, probably cheaper to buy direct: http://www.mgq.com.au/Shop.htm

I received the album last week. It is very, very nice. Thank you for the recommendation.

Magnatues features Daniel Estrem. I enjoy his recordings, especially the Bach on 8 string guitar works.
