Using EQ with the open baffle subs and servo amps

Danny or Brian,

I just bought and received a pair of two driver OB subs with two of the servo amps.

My question is: Can I use the Velodyne SMS-1 to do some light EQ'ing (lowering any peaks - not raising any nulls) of the subs?

Since I haven't hooked things up yet, I have no idea on how they will measure in room, I am assuming that it won't be perfect.   :wink:

OB subs probably won't have as large of peaks as ported I would imagine.  I haven't yet taken measurements of my OB sub as I configured it by ear and got lazy since it sounded so good.  Have any pics of your subs?

Anyways, my point was I doubt it would be too necessary with these types of subs.

One version of the plate amp incorporates a parametric eq; so I assume that using eq is not prohibited.

I doubt that you'll have any room peaks with these. If you do, you won't have more than one, and if so the PEQ built right onto the plate amp will take care of it.

I am looking forward to your opinion and comment on these subs.  Would you do me one favor please.  I would like you to listen to just one sub to let us know how it compares to the two of them hooked up...so, if two were a 100% baseline, then one would be XX% of it.

I will try and do that eventually, but my priority right now is to get the dual subs dialed in for my GTG this Saturday.
