I was just thinking last night that maybe your relative inactivity on the board was a sign of hard work on those puppies.

Oh, those are so stupendous!!!  Beautiful work.

Those look awesome.

I take it by Bill's post that these are a modified version of the 9's?

They are based on the 9's design. Other than that, a different animal due to cabinet construction and crossover voicing due to the use of different components.

Nice work, guys!  I know their new owner has been eagerly awaiting their arrival! :)

Quick question... did the sensitivity change from the stock LS-9s?  I thought the LS-6s were 91 dB/w/m while the LS-9s were closer to 95 dB/w/m?  Not that this will matter much, given the awaiting amps...

Having measured the LS-6s, I'm assuming the extension value of 16 Hz is the in-room F3?

I can imagine nothing but success for this speaker - congrats to all!

Very, very, nice Day.

Finally a LS that looks as good as it sounds. I did not really like the full wood wrap around look I have seen on some LS's. While they did look good they were not shockingly good. These are !!! Reminds me of JM Lab Utopia line.

It is sort of what I was planning for the LS's if I built them. The contrast of light and dark makes it, as well as the fine workmanship of course. I like contrast.

What wood is that? Looks nice. What finish is on them?

And since I am asking questions, did you use a hardwood on the corners? If the corners are MDF, any advice to make edge grain not show?

Wish those were my pair, but the pockets are not deep enough.

Someone is going to be a very happy camper.

Thanks,

I sent an assembled standard crossover to Denny to use with this pair. Well, it was the standard crossover other than it had Sonic Platinum by-pass caps on it.

Bills building the same network design using some more exotic parts and adding switches on the bass management to allow on the fly adjustments. His parts selections might indeed make a different animal out of it and might take them to the another level.

Brian, they really are only 91db if measured at a 1 watt/1 meter range.

Yes, that does include the room response and should be about right for a large to medium sized room that these will likely be put in.

In the small 13' by 19' hotel room at RMAF we were probably only getting extension down into the mid 20's with the LS-6's.

Danny:

What would the freq. response be if it was not ported but sealed?

We had these running here in the shop for about 30 hours before they went out.

We still didn't pull out all the stops on the bass management and run them full out. The low frequency extension in room, and transient response is unreal.  :o

I can't explain in words the sensation of sounds that low playing.

It's surreal.

Wow!

Cheers

Wow!

What is the price for a pair of those with that beauutifuuul finish?  I like the look with the balck on the front and back.

You do great work!

Thanks,
Bill
