What would you say to 5 more dB?  How's 130dB SNR sound?  Well, in a word, spectacular!  More later, but we plan to offer the DAC DAC 2 this month:

Tommy, this is great news.

Both my brother and I really love your DAC DAC. I have it playing with VAC Musicbloc amps, a Modular Electronics (ME) preamp from Australia along with Quad 57s. The sound is full, rich and musical. If the new DAC DAC can improve on it, that will be quite an achievement.

Yeah, and what does that mean from a sonic standpoint? Why is 130dB SNR significant?

I'm another that does not understand the significance of 130db SNR. Could you explain the benefit of this over the SNR of the DAC DAC. What difference would we hear? Thanks!

I'm not Tommy, but I'll chime in.  The idea is that detail (resolution), once lost, can never be regained.  By keeping things like SNR at very, very, very low levels, you ensure that the DAC passes on all the information possible to the preamp. 

The hard part, IME, is not in getting great measurements, but it's getting great measurements while keeping the sound smooth and tonally rich.

The DAC DAC 2 sound is more textured.  Deeper imaging, blacker background.  It's simply amazing!  Maybe it's the lower noise. Maybe it's the lower distortion.  I can say without a doubt that the DAC DAC 2 combined with the MEGAschino is the sweetest sounding setup I've heard yet!
