iDSD Black Label and MQA?
« on: 30 Sep 2017, 01:05 am »
I just noticed iFi on the MQA partner page and when I click it says the iFi iDSD Black Label with MQA coming soon. Any idea when it will be available?
Will older models be upgradeable?

YAWN.

I had some iFI gear for a while. Junk. Most of it stopped working in one way or the other and the build
is Chinese made junk. Pass.

Yes. And just reporting my experience. I had two Micro iDSD units, one that lost one channel on the headphone out.
Both had horrible volume tracking, especially at low levels, as well as a Nano. They all emitted low level diginoize that was
easy to hear one half meaer from the speaker.

What's that have to do with the topic at hand?  Nothing.

If iFI really believes MQA is "better". and not just a new marketing buzzword, I have some land to sell you.

Please stop your vitriol, go troll another thread. I want an answer to my question from iFi.

From the announcement, it sounds like iFi views MQA as a new feature to add to their products.
I didn't read any mention that they found MQA to be "better".

I think they are letting the customer decide whats best by providing MQA, DSD, PCM and redbook formats in their new dac. Why limit your choices?

Well, by golly, it seems that it's available for purchase right now.  :thumb:

I think that is the current non MQA version.

Little late to the party but if music is flowing then that means the party is still hopping.

Started a thread here about the nano iDSD Black Label.  It can handle MQA rather nicely.  TIDAL has a nice collection to try  :thumb:
