Hey hi-rez folks, I'm thinking this is a place to get some input since you're the guys with the gear needed for this test I'm trying to run.

I want to see if I can get some data on whether folks are able to detect linear phase vs. minimum phase upsampling digital filters using default SoX settings. This is potentially of value when DAC manufacturers discuss and show images of the "importance" of the lack of pre-ringing using impulse response images.

As usual, data is collected anonymously. It's a naturalistic survey of what "audiophiles" hear and hopefully can provide some insight into the importance of these digital filter effects.

The samples are 44kHz converted to 176kHz so high-resolution DAC is needed to play back the samples, of course.

Instructions and test samples here:

Thanks in advance to the participants.

Maybe more forgiving responses here than AA.  TBD.

I don't know about forgiving responses :-). All I can say is there appears to be some claims of extra-ordinary hearing and beliefs among the denizens of the Asylum.
