Bedroom Sub
« on: 8 Sep 2013, 09:56 pm »
Needed a sub for my bedroom system and thought it would be a good project to try out ideas I've come across, mostly from this forum.

The design is a double layer box, inside box 3/4" lite weight MDF, outside box 3/4" Birch ply. The inside of the box is lined with a layer of 3/4" man made stone, used for counter tops, I used a poly adhesive that stays flexible, and a layer of No-Rez on top of that.

I used 3 front baffles with the middle baffle sandwiched between the other 2 with layers of damping materials in between. The outside edge of the inner baffle also has a layer of damning.

Thanks to Danny at GR for calculating box Vol for me.

If it plays as good as it looks it will be a great sounding sub.

It's lighter than the sub in my main system which is 200 lb, this ones only 170 lb  It sounds very good, especially after I install a DSPeaker 8033s  and when I install my new amp and source I think it will sound even better, also the driver needs more burn in.
