I am not convinced of a H-frame together with Alphas. The additional airload will lead to a smeared bass reproduction. I once tried the extreme form of additional airload in building a RiPol-woofer system - did not work well. Extremely low fs, though, but indifferent, blurry sound.

So I turned to other experiments, and the result is (for me): The Alphas will work best in just a plain open baffle. Given its own diameter, you will hav a certain minimum width of the baffle anyway. I used two of them each side, example here:

Another design idea may be:

A H-frame could be nice together with smaller woofers, i.e. in the 10 " - range. My next project will carry three of them per side in a combination of acryl and black laquered wood.

There is so much creation potential within this DIY-hobby...

Till

Thanks guys.

I was always wondering about double Alphas.Your red and light blue design looks really good but unfortunetly i dont have acces to cnc router.I was cadcam programmer for many years until slowdown about 4 years ago .
Im not really bass guy but there is so much worries  about baffles no wide enough. Are you happy with output alphas provide?.
Im planning to use minidsp no passive crossover.
Building speakers is my new hobby, lots to learn.

(Poultrygeist)

i've red all your posts. Is still tang band your prefrence in Ob?.
I'd noticed you experimented with tweeters.

Thanks guys

They look nice!
Especialle the combination of the two well matching colors add quite some optical value.

I tried stacked Alphas but it was overkill for me in my average size listening room.

What crossover frequency and slope did you use?

I still like the Tang Bands in OB. The old Radio Shack super horn pod tweeters with better caps I'm now using with the TB's shown above. I have them firing to the rear and off axis.

I'm working on some additional tops for the H-frames using the Eminence 12lta and some tweets.

I've had fun playing around with these Betsy over Alphas. The shelf is for a tweeter pod.

Keep them comin guys.

like the idea with replacable top .
I did had Alpha's with Fostex 103 for some time (MJK OB).But i guess i got bored with the Fostex .
Thats when i've start looking at the H-frame option. Its very versatile specialy when using active.
Im just worried that it wont stop ,it is really addictive:-).
There is one idea i saw before looks good.
