Hi Wayne,

Will you be A/Bing the new WBT Nextgen RCA plugs against the Eichman Bullets? I don't have any complaints about the Bullets on my M-80s and Digital, but I'm curious if the pure copper posts in the WBT offer a marked advantage over the alloy posts in the copper Bullets.

Whenever the NextGen WBT becomes available, I will audition them.

From what I have heard, they will not become available in the US in any quantity until mid January.

Pricing is going to be about the same as current WBT products

Wayne,

Are these the same WBT's you were mentioning to me at VSAC? If so, didn't you also mention something about a re-designed female RCA to be used in conjunction with the newly designed male RCA's?

This is it. It is the one thing that was and is missing from the Eichmann lineup. I wish they'd had a Bullet style RCA jack, as I would have had them installed on my SET when it was being made.[/url]

Yeah, that must be what Wayne & I were talking about a couple of months ago.

So now I wonder is the RCA jack needed to use the plug? Or do things just get better if you use the jack as well as the plug?

And can the jack be used with plugs other than the WBT?

The jack looks like it is compatible with any RCA plug. I think that you'll just get the best results from using a Nextgen or Bullet plug with it.

I just got off the phone with Kimber and the NextGen plugs are expected to arrive for distribution around the end of this month.

The sockets won't be in until the end of February at the earliest.

Another update, on WattGate AC connectors, now they are all going to ship with stainless steel screws inside to clamp to the wires. They were using screws made from magnetic material.

This should improve sonics a bit. The basic male AC connector that was labelled Marinco is now going to be WattGate. No word on any price increases.

Here are some pictures of the NextGen plug:

Looking at the WBT website, it mentions the use of magnesium. The outer barrel might be a good place to use it.

I will know for sure in about a month when I get some :)

I just received an e-mail form Rich at WBT-USA about the NextGen

The outer barrel is an aluminum magnesium alloy to help shield any interferences from entering in the connector where shielded cable does not protect.  The barrel is then coated with a blue ceramic material to help with non-conductivity.  Blue is the only color that the barrels will be available in.

He also sent me a .pdf file that shows that the contact material will be available in both copper and silver.

So Wayne, what're your thoughts on these connectors so far based on what you've read/heard about them?

They sound like they're going to be much more expensive than the Eichmann's. But seem to be doing the same thing (at least to me).

I am sure they will be more expensive than the Bullets. I do like a lot of the design. I am not too sure about the diameter of the WBT. Because they use the same locking design as the standard WBT, I think they might be hard to fit on most of the AV receivers.

I am sure they will sound great on ger where you have enough room to use them.

I will be getting some when they become available. I will make up a set of Nitros for them and I am sure the DAM will have a lot of fun comparing them :D

Will you be getting the female jacks to try out as well?

I guess I'd be more interested in those as I'm more than happy with the Silver Bullets and have no plans to use other RCA's on the rest of my cables.

I received a package from UPS yesterday. The packing slip was from WBT-USA. It read "A gift from Ray"

I quickly opened it up and found

 :D

Now I have to decide what to make up: one digital cable or a pair of NITRO interconnects to test the two pair of connectors I received.

Decisions, decisions :?

I just received some pricing on the NextGen connectors.

The Copper male will have a retail of $27.50 EACH

The Silver male will have a retail of $48.50 EACH

The Copper female will have a retail of $23.50 EACH

The Silver female will have a retail of $42.00 EACH

I built a digital cable with a pair I was sent. It is very nice sounding. It was very close in sound the another one I made with Silver Bullets. The NextGen did not have much in the way of break-in on it at the time. I have not compared them since.

I will try to get a comparison done soon.
