Ground loop hum? This will take care of it!

Have you added an amplifier to your Digital receiver only to end up with that annoying 60hz hum? Well, I did and it drove me NUTS! Like 99% of the others I read about I traced it to my incoming cable TV cable. I was loath to spend $60-80 or more on a fix so I lived with the old do it yourself fix 75ohm/300ohm converter back to back trick. Trouble is that ends up acting like an antenna and pulls in over the air TV and radio signals which lead to ghosting. In my case it was HORRIBLE. It was painful to watch Cable TV because of it and the only thing I could suffer through were NFL games.

So, then I found this - the Xantech ground breaker. Put this 5" long item in line with my incoming cable and no more hum, no more ghosting, I'm a happy camper! Plus it's SO easy to use! Look at the picture - all you have to do is unscrew the cable from the back of your TV, Cable box or Cable modem and put this right in line and then screw your incoming cable back into this!! What could be easier! And, this is all you need, no need for any RCA type ground isolator that may or may not work.

Here's the details:

634-00 GROUND BREAKER

Eliminates hum bars or audible hum generated when A/V components are connected directly to a cable TV or Satellite system. Isolates ground potential differences within an audio/video system without affecting the RF signal.

As a bonus they also act as surge supressors as well. I've got one on my Cable and one on Satallite.

AUDIOCIRCLE ONLY pricing is $17 each, shipping included!. Payment via paypal is preferred!

At this price there is no reason to live with a crap picture or that darn humm!

Here are some of the possible uses:

*Fast Shipping.... Great Seller..... Thanks Again Now I can use my Cable TV again

*Super fast ship. Great communication. Great product, solved my problem. Thanks

*Thanks a lot for your suggestions of using Xantech ground breaker .. we are really amazed at what this product is doing .. now there is no hum .. the speakers are dead quite even you put your ears against it

*With my current set up I had hum that got to the stereo via an S-video cable going from a universal player to the TV. I PM'd Brian and he sent one out right away. I put that puppy in and wa-la no more hum. Quick, easy, and cheap![/list:u]

Cool!  I need one in a bad way.  I'm also too cheap to buy a Mondial Magic for $100, so I've settled on a crappy fix:  I unscrew the cable from the wall when I'm not watching TV!

How do I order one?

Thanks,

I placed my order; let me know you got it okay when you get the chance.

Oh, BTW- can I get the Packers version?  The one that works great until I tell all my friends how it's the best product I've ever seen?

Yep, for the price of a CeeDee you can listen to all your CD's without unplugging that black cable.

Re: Ground loop hum? Didn't work with Direct TV cable

Byteme,

I'm not complaining, and it's been over a month since I got the little 634 ground loop buster from you, but it didn't work for me. I have a Direct TV system connected to a Sony Tivo PVR. I inserted the 634 at the back of the Tivo unit where the cable would be connected. I first turned on the power amp in my 2 channel rig, and lo! No hum! Cool! But then, I turned on the TV, and it showed a message from the Tivo box indicating there was no usable signal. I ran through the dish antenna calibration, and with the 634 connected I had signal strength of zero, and without it, I have a signal strength of around 96%.

So, either the 634 doesn't work with my setup, it's defective, or I'm not connecting it correctly. Any idea whether I connected it properly? As I said, I'm not complaining if it isn't compatible with the Direct TV and Tivo rig, but a late post elsewhere on AC reminded me to ask about this.

Thanks.

SWG - in many cases with Satellite this device won't pass the signal.  As you found out, it's a damn shame because otherwise it works great!  Typically for analog cable, there are no problems, with digital cable I've heard of some channels getting dropped for one reason or another, but others are just fine - and it's not just "all digital" got dropped or something simple like that.

One thing you can try is this - it sounds like you put the groundbreaker between the sat box and your tivo.  Try it after the tivo, between that and your TV.  This won't block the signal from the antenna (dish LNBs) and it may very well still kill the hum.  If that doesn't work for you, send it back and I'll refund you.

Brian.
