Speaker Driver connection to Enclosure
« on: 2 Jun 2015, 02:37 pm »
  Is there a desired torque for screws securing drivers. do the screws need to be tighted all the way or loosened a bit. Recently experimented with loosening the driver screws then re-tightening them to a quarter turn past snug.
   The sound opened up with better focus and grain. Why is that ?

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

The general box resonance reach the cone creating a loop;
Under the speaker edge/box should be 5 mm of rubber or felt, not just the usual 1mm.

It depend on the screws type, Plywood/MDF, drive weight.
I like use the bigger screws the driver allow, also large threaded.
