Latest music you've picked up...
« on: 30 Dec 2002, 11:12 pm »
This thread is for when ever you pick up some new music.  Give us your impressions on the music and if you feel its neccessary the recording.  This is what this hobby is all about so voice your opinion.  Doesn't matter what format so long as its music.  If its a movie just take it over to bubba at the cinema as we do want to hear your opinion on that stuff too.  This thread will be archived every week so as to keep it clean.  I will try to see if I can't get it so that I have the archives in this post so you don't have to go looking for them.  If I can't then just search the Music Circle for 'Archive' and you should be set.

I "had" all of the Morphine albums, but coudn't find my copy of "Cure For Pain".  I  must have lent it to somebody and never gotten it back or left it somewhere....

So I had to buy it again.

You know inevitably it will show up in the next week or so.  Probably under the couch or something silly like that.

The cd is probably hanging out with my bottle of Kontact...

I recently found a 'new to me' band, Vas.  Though leaning more to Eastern musical tradition, highly recommended to Loreena McKennitt and DCD/Lisa Gerrard fans.  The singer, Azam Ali, also has a beautiful 'solo' effort out, "Portals to Grace", which is more Medieval Euro oriented.

Have you heard Trial of the Bow?? Someone on AA recommended them to DCD fans (along with Vas). TOB's "Rite of Passage" seems more DCDish than Vas to my ears (though I like both).

Short 30 sec. samples of "Rite of Passage":

WhooP!
New music, just picked up.
AM I in the wrong thread?

"Los Lonely Boys"

If Scott F. had already posted this, ignore me and go back to your previously scheduled programing...

It"s  now, their premiere album, if I get my story straight, is on sale at Best Buy for 10 bux.

If you like early Santana as when they had a B-3 behind him, and a taste of Everly Bros. harmonies, go on out and give yourself a treat.
For a debut album, it was first rate.

Scott F. turned me onto this album sunday.
On monday, I took my 30 minute lunch and ran to Best Buy.
Found it for 10 bux!
Made it back with 3 minutes to spare.
(Is this an Act o' God or what?)
I danced with my broom.

According to the blurb on the outside of the cd " Willie Nelson's Favorite Local Band'.
Now how good a review is that or what?

Take a chance, Columbus did!

Best Regards,
DF

Stoped by costco also and picked up the same CDs,
but got the 90's pop hits also. Not bad 40 songs for $8.99.

Prick - The Wreckard. The disc can only be ordered direct through prickmusic.com. It's one of the best new discs I've heard in the last 5 years.
