I've been told aluminum windows work too.

You might want to note that all those grounding boxes don't actually connect devices together, electrically.

The real question is do you like the sound? They are nothing more than antennas. If you like the sound, well, go for it.

If you use piezoelectric materials you may be able to fine tune the reception range of RF you pick up. That may lead to enhancing the range you want, and decreasing the range you do not.

The quick definition for 'ground' is common reference point.
These magic 'grounding boxes' are the exact opposite!

A real grounding box would be a copper bar with wires to the chassis's of all the components.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.
Just as effective as a magic grounding box.

I think that rod should be at least 8 feet to meet code.
