I guess I'll wrap up this Blue Monday with Maria Muldaur's tribute to Memphis Minnie.

CANNED HEAT ~THE TIES THAT BIND
CD 1997 (Recorded in 1974)

Quote
Boogie-woogie blues rockers Canned Heat serve up a gyrating platter of previously-unleashed material, all recorded during three separate studio sessions. The album's final three cuts ("Reefer Blues", "You Tease Me" and "Something's Gotta Go") are the final recorded output from Heat founder/guitarist Alan Wilson, who committed suicide a few weeks after these studio sessions were made.
The album kicks off with the good-time party ambience of "Saturday Night Fish Fry". Track four, "Drunk", is a reeling 'n' rocking slab of slide guitar magic. Then there's the rhythm and blues grinder, "Harry's Open Pit and Bar B Que".
Canned Heat fell by the wayside in the '70s with the advent of disco and punk rock, but while those musical stylings have a tendency to come off as cliche and dated today, the Heat's blistering rhythm and blues still sounds as fresh and new as the day it was canned.

"I heard Momma and Poppa talkin.  I heard Mama tell Poppa, let that boy boogie woogie".  Might have been the other way around.  It's only been since the 50's that I've heard this.  "I never will forget the first time I heard the Wolfman howl . . scared me half to death".  I wish I had been this lady's manager.  I just can't believe she made only two albums.  Who knows who these artists are?

You old scholar you.  This album, btw, is engineered by Bill Schnee who engineered for Sheffield Labs direct-to-disc records and it's sound is excellent.  She wrote that tune and three others on the album/CD.  Anybody who likes R&B should jump on this one like a duck on a bug!

Ahh, truth be known...  I saw your post over in the karma circle earlier and went and searched out the album.  I was streaming it as I read  this thread ane came upon your post here .  Had only just heard the track a  few  minutes earlier  !!
It is a great album,  I am going to   order it.  Is  Blue Highway equally as good  ?  It wasn't available to stream from  the service I use

Dunno that one, Cap'n.  If you can listen to her album Deja Blue online, DO listen to the title track for some down and dirty guitar work, and "Too Late" cause it is sooo real and features her in a duet with Doug Sahm tho he can't hold a match to her.  Overall, I don't think this one is as good as Blonde and Blue, however :dunno:.

She's a fine singer and has graced this thread in the past. I also have her album "Soul Shake", but it's not as good as the aforementioned "Blonde and Blue".

The former is John Lee Hooker and the tune is Boogie Chillin'.
