That's cool! I don't think I've seen nicely finished bucket subs before. I like the trim rings.

If I were considering a new APPJ it would be this one.

Interesting. Haven't seen that one before.
Cool that it only uses 2 tubes. Wondering how it sounds and what the availability for tube rolling is like.

@RDavidson - I have this model with the two 6AD10 tubes, and in comparisson to the MiniWatt S1, it has just a little more power to give a fuller more rounded sound.
However, my only critcism is that 'tube rolling' options for 6AD10 are very limited.  The stock tubes shown in their 'pack shots' show GE 6AD10 tubes, the ones I received were marked '6AD10 USA'.  I followed this up with the manufacturer, who told me that USA Tubes now make all the GE tubes, so even though the tube markings are differently branded, they are in fact the same tubes.

I really needed to 'roll', so I hunted for some NOS RCA (which I was happy with), but as things always go, I wanted something better.  I managed to find a electronically matched pair of vintage NOS GE tubes; and I love them.

Neat little setup. Thanks for the follow up.
That kind of confirms my suspicions that perhaps this 2-tube amp may not be the best for those looking for a lot of rolling options. On the other hand, I'm sure that the choices that are available aren't expensive. That's a plus. :thumb:

I love my little TC7...I use it as a laptop amp when I'm home....works great. In fact my avatar image is of the TC7 with Russian tubes in operation.

The price was so good on MassDrop, I had to order 2 (maybe 1 to use & 1 to modify & compare with).

One difference with MiniWatt S1 is that this mini2013 from MassDrop is 3W + 3W, and the original MW S1 is 2.5W + 2.5W.
That extra 0.5W per channel should make finding suitable speakers a tiny bit easier (I hope).

Straight from APPJ: "best tubes for this amp are Russian 6P1P-EV and WE 403B".

The difference between 2.5 and 3 wpc is negligible.

for me the extra 0.5wpc is just what i needed, as my speakers are not super sensitive.

On my MiniWatt S1, my comfortable listening level in 11 O'Clock; & on the Appj Mini2013 the same level is achieved at just over 9 O'Clock on the volume control.

I just purchased a Tubecube 7 this month while it was on sale for $149 and an Emotiva Basx PT100 while on sale in December.  The pair are driving my Wharfedale W70's in a 20 by 12 room and doing a great job.  This is with the stock tubes.

I still thinking on which one to buy between this one or Mini 2013 APPJ.

For 10W of EL34 bliss sound try the Gemtune X1:

Althoug I never see 1 EL34 tube delivery this much output power, the usual was 6/7W
