Need to shuffle amps around and have 3 choices to power the superb N2X's.  Right now I am using a custom amp from Niteshade, great amp but with the summer here my computer rooms gets pretty toasty from the tubes.  Next up is an Anthem AMP 2 SE, another great amp but a hybrid. Last but not least an SS amp, the Luxman M-117.  Power wise, the Anthem and Luxman are way ahead of the Niteshade, but, more power doesn't always mean better sound of course.

Because of the logistics of swapping amps I would like to keep the auditions to a minimum.

So, any thoughts?  I know about synergy and stuff, just want some general ideas or of course thoughts from folks who use of the amps now on there N2X's.

If I were you I'd have already tried every combination and would know what worked best.

Problem is I need 2 outputs and 4 inputs .....

only 3 inputs...plus, i have a nice conrad-johnson preamp i am already using, thus the need for the right amp.....

I am confused. If you already have a preamp then why do you need four inputs and two outputs on your amp?

sorry about that, i was just saying that if i ditched the c-j and went with the virtue i would need those 4 inputs and 2 outputs

You can use your pre-amp with the Virtue amp.

You can either set the volume control all the way up or by-pass the volume control internally.

I use my Virtue TWO.2 as an amp having the Volume pot bypassed with an easy jumper change- I highly recommend it, turned my Grant Fidelity Tube DAC-09 into a nice little passive pre-amp and really brought the TWO.2 to another level. What started as an excellent integrated amp turned into an excellent amp..easy tweak or as Danny said you can just turn volume pot all the way up.
