Rythmik F12G vs GR V2 ?
« on: 23 May 2016, 12:18 pm »
Hi Danny and others.
A few years back I purchased from you a pair of Rythmik F12G
and two pairs of (Venuette ?) V2 modified with Omega 7F
the other pair with the 8'' PAudio coaxial is in storage waiting for money
to build a H type enclosure.
I did a test to see-hear the difference in sound between the F12G (Servo sealed)
and the V2 H type frame Open baffle dipole.
I have a switch box (DIY Audio 13) to switch instantly from one to other
and the F12G don't play as loud as the V2,
if I increase the volume of the F12G I only get more boom boom
but no increase in better bass sound.
I've set the knobs and toggles as per instructions that came with the subwoofers,
is it possible that the F12G need more volts - power from the amplifier
to drive them to the same level as the V2 ? ? ?
I did the test because maybe in a few years I won't have room for the Open baffle
speakers that need 3' in the back, therefore, I think the F12G would be better,
space wise.

If the sealed box SW-12-04 woofers are used with the A370PEQ amp and the two of them do not have twice the output of the drivers used in the lower section of the V-2's then you have them wired wrong.

And if you're getting boom, boom, and not substantially faster, cleaner, and tighter bass response that plays a full octave lower than the lower section of the V-2's then you have them wired wrong.

Thanks Danny,
I will check (Again) the wiring.

Hi Danny and others...
I've finally got around checking (Three times) all the wires of my testing set up
and found no wrong doing.
I did some fine tuning to the Rythmik plate amp.
and it's now sounding more like a subwoofer.
After spinning many CDs I came to the conclusion that both of them
have their strong and weak points.
The F12G can play louder with no distortion.
It can play (A little lower to my ears) than the V2
The quality of the bass is very similar. (To my ears)
With organ and low and powerfull music, of course the Rythmik wins,
however, there is something with the V2 that I prefer,
is it because it's an Open Baffle type ????
Anyway, both of them do a good job.
If I was to move to a samller listening room I would go with the Rythmik,
but I am not moving for a couple of years, therefore,
I will keep and enjoy my V2.
End of testing !
