Strange. I didn´t get any flippin´commercials here. Glad you liked it, too.

I tried it again with my other computer this morning - two commercial breaks, grrr. Regardless, I more than liked it!

Hmm, now I can't insert a second quote - oh well: "Just have to open our mind, as to other spoken languages for music than English..." I couldn't agree more and I have been actively expanding my linguistic vocabulary over the last couple of years. I'm currently learning that Russian song I linked last month, which meant learning Cyrillic. A website suggested that I could learn the alphabet in 30 minutes, but it's taken more like 30 days - perhaps, I'm just old and slow, but I get there. I've also learned to write the language, and have written the aforementioned song at least a dozen times. It's beginning to stick. The singing in the bulk of my listening is not English.

Most of the crap came from afrobrazilian ''music:''

Yeps, that´s what I was talking about. And there´s also the Brazilian "country" music, which is one of the worst sounding pieces I´ve ever heard, and wouldn´t dare publishing here to contaminate this wonderful topic

Van Morrison - Gloria (live at the Hollywood Bowl, 2008)

I´ve got to know this song with Jimi. But it sounds great still...

Here's a superb cover of a sad song to close a sad week. I had to take my 15 year old dog to the vet for her final visit Tuesday morning. I confess that I cried the first time I heard Neil Young sing this song, but not like I cried tonight. Eh, don't let it bring you down. Then again, I must warn you that Sarah Fimm's performance may get to you.

It's been too long since I've checked in, and I'm very far behind with your posts.
But Earl St. Clair and his jam brought me back here to spread his word.

Turn it up. Enjoy.  8)

Wow! Until seeing your post, I had never associated Flamenco with double bass. After witnessing Adam's performance, I have a desire for more of something I never knew existed.

If you love the double bass, you're already familiar with Charnett Moffett - on my short list of favorite bass players.

The nyckelharpa is such a cool instrument, especially so in the hands of Thomas Roth.  :)

The nyckelharpa features in quite a bit of Scandinavian music, and I listen to a lot of music from that area of the world.

Speaking of great performers, I stumbled across this gentleman one evening while wandering through the youtube universe. I'm not sure how to classify his style, but I find it incredibly moving. In my opinion, Estas Tonne is a stunningly superb guitarist, taking the listener on a rich emotional journey. How a performance like this can accrue 192 dislikes is beyond me.
