I know a guy who was denied warranty for his 14B because he bought used from a grey market dealer.

But was it an authentic Bryston product or an alternative in China / knock off?

LOL are there any China fakes of Bryston? On EBay?
Tried Googling "fake Bryston gear"...nothing came up.

One last question (from me) There are a lot of Bryston products sold as 'used' from Canada to the US market.
Does the USA warranty cover products bought used from Canada which have a receipt from a Canadian dealer?

^ I'm not speaking for Bryston, but my hunch is it's covered.
A Bryston is a Bryston, regardless of country of sale, imo.

I don't  think these Canadian sellers are targeting the US  market. ...it's  just the nature of Internet selling.

Hi James!

I have three questions for you:

1. Regarding used Bryston equipment, do you provide service for all your amplifiers even if some of these models are out of production?

2. One other thing, I am thinking about buying a used Bryston amplifier from US or Canada, possibly a B60 or B100. Since I live in Europe, could this amplifier first be sent to you for a full maintenance and checkup of all it's functions, pots, switches, as well as modification to make it suitable for European 240 V voltage rating?

I mean, since the amplifier would already be in N. America, it would probably be a good idea to have it first sent to you to do all these things before it's shipped to Europe.

3. How would this influence the (presumably) still valid warranty of the product?

Cheers!
Antun

Hi

Encourage it  - I feel having a customer exposed to our products helps us expand our market base.

james

James is bang on here. I bought my first Bryston products used in private sales. A BDP-1 and BP-20. Experiencing Bryston quality through private sales led to future purchases from authorized Bryston dealers - like the 4BSST2, BIT20, BDA2, and Mini T's!

The transferrable warranty definitely factored into these decisions. Thanks Bryston!  :thumb:

Not trying to speak for James, but I read before Bryston will not modify from 117v to 240v.
As I wrote, this is just a from memory, and I may be wrong. But I think it is the correct answer.

Your best bet to use North American Bryston amps is to buy a transformer to use between the wall at 240v and the amp at 120v.

I'm not sure but I think if you buy a Bryston in Canada and you live in USA, you must send it to Canada for repair under warranty. Maybe M.Tanner can confirm.

No, Bryton does NOT send US product to Canada for repair. (usually)
Bryston has a repair center in USA for US located repairs. (near the US Canada border though.)
This saves them tons of hassle about cross border stuff.
I would think some of that product does end up crossing the border for replacement etc. But that is done from the US service center.

Hi fellas!

I am not asking because of warranty, but simply if Bryston is silling to provide such a service.

Let's face it - the warranty is dealer-dependent. You may buy something in a hifi store today but tomorrow when you come in to claim warranty, it's a pizzeria.
