Trying to figure out the Caps in the Kismets
« on: 2 Nov 2017, 07:31 pm »
Love my Kismets monos but just wondered if anybody might know about the caps.
Some Kismets Have 4 Blue caps on the Black Board and 4 or 8 Blue caps around the transformer. Others have 4 Purplish caps with gold markings on top on the board and 4 caps along the outside. Some caps have SL3  or Sl5. Sometimes the caps are laying down, sometimes standing up. I bet there may not be two alike anywhere out there.
Anybody shed some light on this?
Thanks

Symphonic Line Capacitors...Are they made by Mundorf?

old caps > 8 years or so are black...newer regular caps are blue with a gold band.

SL caps are all blue,  and there are either 15 K regular caps or 16 K screw-in ref.  caps....the newest ones of course are the 35 K monsters( which we have in both, blue or white...doesn't matter which color),  also screw-ins.....and in the Stratos  / Kismet cases they all stand up...however,  they are very tall and thus have to be laid down in the Khartago cases.....standing up or laying them down however,  doesn't make any difference in sound.....
And nope,  they're not made by Mundorf...they all are actually German / French made....
