Indeed. As one who was active in our hobby in the Pre-Dolby days, I can attest that it was his thinking about signal processing (Dolby NR), not just transmission, that spawned a thousand innovations by those who "got it". His first product seems simple, even obvious, now, but as with many innovative thinkers it is obvious because he saw what others did not.
