Looking for cheap 36" speaker stands
« on: 5 Feb 2010, 01:08 am »
Looking for a set of cheap/inexpensive 36" speaker stands...am in seattle...a set will be made for me custom wise but they won't be ready for a few months and I need some until then. Only ones i have seen are over $100 and I dont want to spend that much on them.

Thanks!

Are they for mini-monitors or satellites?  How heavy are they?  Here's a pair that are height adjustable and holds up to 20 lbs each, and only cost $29 pr: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=240-762

I saw those but I need ones that will hold the GR Research N2X's i just bought and they are too wide for those clamps, thanks for the headsup!

I just remember reading the latest Audio Advisor magazine/newsletter, and it seems like they struck a deal with a distributor in China who is custom making some high mass aluminum/steel stands for them, but for a lot cheaper than the competition. I remember seeing prices less than $50. Call them at 1-800-942-0220, and see what they say. They don't have them listed on their website however. I already checked.

Best,

Anand.

Yeah, those are the Pangea stands which I had high hopes for as i have a few of their power cords.  Well, they are backordered :(  Could be quite some time.

Then how about securing a piece of wood on top, wide and long enough for the N2X.

Here's a 15" set of speaker stands for $45. Find some 21" spikes/cones and your all set.  :jester:

At least I'm looking for ya and that's the absolute best I could come up with.  :dunno:  As a brain fart thought, Mapleshade mades maple stand that aim the monitor upwards so maybe these stands could be used with long spikes in the front so to aim the monitor at ear level.

Problem is that i will be sitting at a computer desk with the monitor and desk facing the speakers, at that height i won't even SEE the speakers :)

Does this help? They are only 31 inches tall however. But $50 for the pair. If they make them in house, you might be able to call and ask them to add another 4-5 inches for like $5 more.

Best,
Anand.
