Assuming I live long enough, this is what I will build.

As a teenager in the '60s, I had pics of GTOs, 'Vettes and Jaguar XKEs on my bedroom walls. Adult life took over and I never got to own one of my dream cars. I had a girlfriend who had a souped up, 500 hp GTO with a 455 though that could rip your head off.
In 2003 I had "matured" enough to get my wish and I bought one of these 1999 supercharged DOHC V8 Jag XJRs, which I still own w/70k miles on it:

With 370 HP, 390 ft/lbs. torque, 13.2 sec. 112 MPH 1/4 mile, 155 mph top end it stands pretty tall as a muscle car. My own private joy ride.
As Tom Robbins wrote, it's never too late to have a happy childhood!

In the 70's,  I was driving a 66 Plymouth Belvedere with the 330 horse 383.

My best friend had a '70 SS 396 Camaro.

My other good friend had 24 different muscle cars in about 6 years.  He started with 3 '52 Mercury 2 door coupes.   Some cars he only had a month of so.   One's I remember are:

61 Chevy Impala bubble top with a 349 and 2 speed auto
63 Impala convertible
64 GTO 389 tri-power with 4 speed manual
66 GTO 389 tri-power  with 2 speed auto
Opel GT
66 F100 short bed pickup
66 Chevelle with a built 454 and a close ratio 4 speed manual
73 El Camino
last car he bought and still has:

67 GTO with the 400 cubic inch engine and 3 speed auto.  He paid 800 dollars from the original owner.  Car had 58K miles on it when he bought it.  He had that car stripped to bare metal and repainted in Silver lacquer.  He still has it.

I had another good friend that had a '66 Mustang fastback with the 289 in it.  Used to help him swap out the rearend gears on Friday to go drag racing in it.

My current ride is a 2014 Ford Fusion with 2.0L turbo in it.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

1972 GTO 455

My old girlfriend had one of these with a 455 that was completely blueprinted. Used an aggressive high lift cam which made it idle like a bucking bronco.
Her daddy owned a dealership and took it in trade from a guy who built cars for the Nascar circuit. Dyno'd well north of 500 hp.

This was one violent ride for the street. She would never let me drive it though. I wonder why?

My ride from high school to my early married years... 1970 Torino GT.  I had the only GT with bench seats  :icon_twisted:...  a sly dog I was in my senior year of HS.
