Joseph searched the net for a while until he came up with the veneer he really wanted.  It was Kingwood.

He also wanted veneered plinths and brown grills.

During the build process, the question arose as to whether or not a dye would be appropriate.

So we did some test samples and Joseph decided to add a little orange dye to the Kingwood.

I think it really made the colors pop.

Here are some photos:

And a close-up...

Happy listening Joseph!

WOW!!! That finish is gorgeous, one of the nicest I've ever seen. Looks like Joseph made a very nice choice in finish as well as in selecting the designer!  :thumb:

I don't chime in often here in the Salk Circle but just had to add my .02.  Those are some of the most beautiful speakers I have ever seen!  Love those side panels with the book matched sections that look like eyes.  Actually they look like a pair of faces.  Are the plinths solid Kingwood?

Jim you really do some incredible cabinet work.  And I really need to make it to an RMAF show to hear what they sound like.

Jim - Beautiful work.

When I first saw the picture it really looks like two Great Horn Owls side by side!
