Madisound Recession Buster Kit
« on: 10 Sep 2009, 03:12 am »
Hello,
I had a recent excellent experience with the SB Acoustics tweeter that Madisound sells, and I noticed that they are using that tweeter in a 2 way bookshelf speaker kit along w/the Scan Speak 5 inch Revelator mid-woofer.  Comes with the crossover already assembled and all the parts (minus the cabinets) that are needed to put the speaker together.  On a difficulty scale, this kit is very easy.  Just buy the cabinets that Madisound also sells and do basic assembly.  And the price is amazingly low - $389!!  That's almost as cheap as the Scan Speak woofers all by themselves.  Smoking deal!:

Yeah, that is an awesome deal. I almost bought this kit but then thought about my other projects that need to see the light so this kit idea went to bad. But it sure was tempting. For around $500 total you can build yourself some nice speakers with not so shabby drivers and crossover options. :duh:

See this link from the Madisound site for recommended ported and sealed cabinet designs:

If you can't find a pre-made cabinet the right size, just go up to the next bigger cabinet and fill in the excess volume.
