Open baffle b200 alpha15 crossover
« on: 9 Dec 2015, 03:39 pm »
Hi

I want to built an open baffle with 1 b200 and 1 alpha15 by speaker. It will be inspire by spatial audio M2 or M3.

Is there an simple crossover for 1 b200 and 1 alpha15 by speaker. A simple crossover, not an highend crossover (i am not an expert).

Is it better to use a minidsp or not.

Thank's a lot and sorry for my language...

Hi,
You could use Martin King crossover for the Alpha which is a first order at 200. Then let the b200 ruin full range. You could do this with one inductor.
I have a mini DSP and I love it. You can do a lot of experimenting.
Good luck

The most simple is one 4.7mH inductor, cut 270Hz first order.
Talk to Jeff at Sonic Craft Circle.

I ran Visaton b200's on OB for 10 years, biamping with OB subs (not the Alpha's though).

Here is a pic of the ugly but effective setup I ran.  It was fine in the unfinished basement at the time.

I used an electronic Xover and found it very simple to implement.

I do understand that some prefer to use a single amp, and passive Xovers.

Here is a link to a published (by Visaton) design for an OB using a b200 and a woofer.  You may find that info useful.

Have fun!

Maybe he is just shy.  Maybe he got what he needed somewhere else.

No harm done in my books.

A comment from the OP would certainly be welcome.
