Sorry, no I did not.

Retail is $2500 for the Marantz mod. $2000 for total tube mod, excluding player, at sale price.

Wish all funds weren't tied up in all these home renovations. Id be all over the new MWI player with this sale.

I had been looking at the Oppo BD 105 mod as I have one in my HT room
I would buy another later

Is the Marantz that much better? Looks like smaller tubes.
Are there price levels - Bybee, etc?

I have an Auduo Research CD9 and my analog rig
The cd doesn't sound natural enough

Looks like the Marantz doesn't do dvd-a

The Marantz excels as an Audio Only player!

The modified Marantz is more resolving than the Opp 105 with our mods.
The Marantz uses the linear/low distortion 5687 driver tube, while the 105 uses the 'Fat Tone' 6SN7 tube.  The circuits are also radically different.
The Marantz will not play DVD-A or Blu-Ray discs, but does have  USB input for playing hi-rez and DSD files just like the Oppo.  It also acts as a great CD transport and of course plays all SACD's.

If you are looking for a music only player, I DO feel that the Marantz is the superior performer.  We have developed more advanced tube circuits since the inception of the 105 mod and this, coupled with the exceptional engineering of the Marantz SA8005 result in the best sound that we have produced to date!
