I recently inherited a bag full of old SMC Pentax-M Prime Lenses and a couple of vintage, aftermarket, K-mount, telephoto zooms. All circa mid-1970s and all fully manual. So, I found a great deal on a lightly used Pentax K-5, digital body, and started shooting. These old lenses are well built, elegant, sharp and take great pics... real nice for 40 year old glass, and besides, it's a great exercise to shoot all manually again.

Here's a couple from today to show you the image quality of the SMC Pentax-M, 135mm Prime. Accounting for the ASP-C crop sensor, this prime lens is effectively 200mm. Not bad for rescuing it from a closest and digging it out of a bag!

Situation is increasingly better.  60 degrees tomorrow...could not have come at a better time.  Here are some images to best explain this past week.  And yes, FDNY in town with some special units.  Our Brothers are here (from all areas).

+1 - when I lived up north (not that far up though), over a course of about a dozen years we had two 30+ inch storms, and, the last one at the beginning of 2010 was one of the many factors that pushed me further south.  I did the 55 foot long driveway by hand (got a snowblower the year after that but only used it once for about 6 inches of snow).  On the prior 30+ inch storm I did the driveway, most the upper and lower deck (so I could use the hot tub on the lower deck vs. letting the stuff slowly melt in shade and not using it for a couple of months) and enough the street so I could get the SUV out there and flatten enough of the cul-de-sac so that when they eventually plowed it was easier.  Could not stand being stuck in four years back for about 2 days until they got to plowing it.  Can't image getting through the recent storms way up north at this point.

My last snow pic.  Good to see some creativity in light of a rather bad situation.
