Looking to upgrade one of my subs
« on: 23 Oct 2016, 07:16 pm »
My Aperion 8D sub is aged.  Looking for an upgrade.  On my short list are the following sub vendors:

Rythmik
Outlaw
SVS
Aperion.  The duel 12 model.
Revel
HSU

Any thoughts?  Prayers?

Music or home theater? Budget?

Home theater - SVS Ultra 13. You want big displacement for home theater. Ie 12-13 inch minimum.

Music - REL & JL Audio. Usually prefer 10 inch sealed. 2 subs better than 1 big.

JL's are really good enough for both home theater and music. They have have a new affordable line called "Dominion". USA made, excellent build quality and customer support.

It will be both HT and music.  I'll check on the JL's.  My second sub is the SVS 2000 series.  Budget is around 1500.00

I'd say JL Esub 110 if more music than HT. SVS Ultra 13 if more HT than music. Both about 1500 with excellent reviews. If you already have an SVS 2000 for HT, I'd probably say the JL for music.

I love my Ultra 13 for home theater but use REL T9 for music. The T9 is quicker. If were doing it now I'd probably get a JL E110 instead though. JL has more balls and is better made.

I'm liking the sealed design of the Aperion Bravus ll 12D.   # for # Aperion has always been impressive.  And, you don't get that "pesky" 40% to 50% dealer mark up.

I concur FireGuy.  The 12 D is looking nice.
