deepomega 8 hum
« on: 12 Sep 2016, 04:09 am »
howdy,

i've just purchased a very nice deepomega 8 off audiogon. it mates very well with my super alnico monitors.
the subwoofer, however, gives off a quiet but noticeable hum.

anybody have experience with this issue?

thanks,
james

Hi jklf26 and welcome to the Omega AudioCircle.

Does the plate amp have the big heatsink on the back?  Check for any possible grounding issues.  Failing that, if the noise is interfering with the music, I would contact the seller.  Hope you get it sorted out.

before anything else, try to find out whether it is a ground loop problem,to check that connect the subwoofer only to a source (isolated from your system),if the hum goes away,it means your system has a ground loop problem,if the hum is still there then you have a problem with the subwoofer amp which means taking it to a technician

thanks, y'all.

i've got the problem sorted out. was a poor connection from speaker wire to amp.

just that i would add that while the super alnico monitors produce very good bass sounds, the deepomega 8 really does fill out the bottom end nicely.
