Before I add the Compatto to our site I need to add some clarification on the pricing. The base finishes (gloss black and red cherry) are $995/ pair including shipping to the mainland USA. Custom veneers (such as the walnut pictured here) are $1,395/pair. This is due to the extra labor in prepping the cabinets, material cost, and time to apply the veneer as well as adding a clear finish.

82dB sensitivity is really far to low for me. What power amplifier do you need, must be at least 100W/channel. Maybe an active 2-way would be better in this case.

Yes, I know that sounds low but keep in mind many speaker manufacturers tend to rate their sensitivity in an "optimistic" way.

This is a good example of Hoffman's Iron Law in a small sealed box - there are three things available but due to physics you can only have two so you have to pick and choose from efficiency, bass extension, and cabinet size. Going active allows you to "cheat" somewhat (no resistance loss from inductors and adding equalization for bass extension) but the goal here was for a smaller / simpler design to be used within an existing front end system. I have some ideas for an active 2-way and just recently tested some drivers in that format.

There is a Compatto review coming soon and there will be some information included about the sensitivity and required amplification.
