Another crazy too good to be true sale #2
« on: 21 Feb 2013, 06:55 pm »
This goes along with the other sale posted here: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=114282.0

This is for the Carnegie Acoustic CSC-1. They are designed to be use as a center channel and match the rest of the line. Check them out here: http://www.carnegieacoustics.com/#/products/

These are beautiful speakers. With magnetically held grill...

All are in a high gloss black.

And they also use the tube connectors on the rear.

And they are very nicely packaged.

And each speaker is protected with a really nice velour bag.

And with embroidered logos's.

These were lined with polyfill all around the box covering all walls.

But they still need a little added polyfill or fiberglass insulation behind each woofer like this.

So you'll need to pull the woofers and add a little fill. No big deal. And for that reason, they are discounted big.

Get them now for $349 each.

These normally sell for $699 a piece.

Give me a call to order them: 940-592-3400

Out of curiosity, could one rotate the tweeter and use a pair of these as monitors?

How does the sound quality of the CSC-1 campare with the N3S? I would think that since the drivers are similar the sound quality of the CSC-1 would be similar to the N3S too, but maybe not as smooth and detailed sounding. Is this a fair assumption?

They're pretty close. It's the Sonicap upgrade that is available with the kit that takes things up a notch.

Carnegie has had some website hosting issues. So for now they set up a second site at www.carnegieacoustics.net

I just took delivery  of one of these center speakers two days ago, let it play about 8 hours to loosen up the cones, and I have nothing but praise for it. I am running it in full channel mono mode right now and the vocals are absolutely great with sparkling highs. It won't hit the bottom octave, but with one of Danny's servo subs it is a full range killer. Relatively small and beautifully finished, it is an all time bargain. The packaging is great, but the real value is in the sound. A pair of these turned up would be a killer stereo pair. Do not let the price fool you, this thing sounds amazing, balanced across the board, but the clarity of the mids and highs will stun you.
A perfect center channel to reproduce the voice. And very efficient to drive.
Like Bob Seeger said, "I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then" cause I am going to have to buy more of these!

Even though I have the tools and ability to build one like this from a kit, I can't match the piano black finish (at least in California with their ban on the stuff) and I can't devote the time to it.

Danny just curious about this, but how are these warrantied, if any.
The full price ones are 5 years, but I don't know how these
discounted speakers are handled.
Not just these but all the Carnegie speakers you've mentioned
in these sale threads.
Sorry if I have missed the answer somewhere else.

I redid the x overs with full Sonicap treatment including  Platinums and foil inductor and of course, Mills resistors.  This is the clearest most lifelike small monitor you can imagine. Using it as a center channel, I have been able to make out words to those songs from the 60's and 70's we all always guessed at. Like Credence lyrics.

Make no mistake, as is this is an incredible speaker. Redo the xover and it would be very hard to top. I have heard nothing better within the frequency range it operates in.
