RWA Signature 57 w/ REL sub
« on: 13 Aug 2014, 02:39 am »
So i'm incredibly excited waiting to hook up my new (trade in, well new to me!) Signature 57 this coming weekend!  I've been searching through old threads to learn a bit more about how to make it play nice with my sub, a REL 505, which is an important part of my system that i'd like to keep around.  I currently have the REL hooked up in high-level mode -- to the speaker binding posts of my current amp, run in parallel with my LR speaker cables.  I've got it hooked up as depicted in the first image in this link:

I understand that Vinnie generally recommends using the line-level RCA outputs on his amps, but i'm having good luck with overall bass integration on my system by using the REL high-lev approach and would like to not screw with that.  Unless, of course, doing so causes me to fry my new amp.

Advice and anecdotes from personal experience appreciated.

While I know there are some older threads on this, I wanted to open up the question again in case there's any new thinking on the question, or any RWA owners with REL subs that have found success (= no catastrophic amp failure) using high-level outputs from their RWA to their REL.

Hi cacophony,

Using the 3-wire high-level mode connection from the Sig 57 to the REL will be fine.  If it has been working out well for you that way, then
go for it!

Keep us posted!

Great to hear!  I'll try it both ways and report back.

This REL only has mono RCA inputs, another reason to stick to the hi-level approach i guess.
