Wonderful choral recordings

Dunno, but to me most orchestra/choir recordings sound congested and unintelligible; so little clarity, separation of voices, etc.

But thanks to Goodwill recently I plucked two gems, both of university choirs.

Vespers 2014 from Millikin University, a live performance (complete with audience coughs) of wonderful depth and SQ.  Songs for the Christmas season mostly but no saccharine arrangements.  Reverential to the music and the performance.

The other is Great Hymns of Faith performed by the St. Olaf Choir, #E-2294.  Gives up just a bit to Vespers in clarity and the arrangements fall just a little behind Vespers, but both can be enjoyed any time of the year, as I have been doing these last weeks.

I really enjoy this well recorded release. Vocals are very clear.

I love The Tallis Scholars. Everything is audiophile quality, always perfect intonation, and the lead soprano is awesome. This is a good one to start:
