I have a pair with the older black fronts and the original spiral ribbon tweeters. I doubt the oak finish would match either.

Any pictures you could provide? It might work, but I am curious how the different tweeters would sound and work together as I want these to be my surrounds and I already have a pair with the other tweeters.

For surround use, I wouldn't sweat the tweeter differences.  I presume the 2 different pairs of 626's won't be used side by side; most likely a side pair and a rear pair?  If so, the different positioning of the 2 sets of speakers will probably have a bigger impact on tonal qualities, than the different tweeters.  The spiral ribbon tweeter may have a bit broader dispersion pattern, so maybe use that set for the sides, and use the other pair for the rears?  But, who am I to complain; 626's of any type would make me happy, 2-channel or surround!   :D

No pics, they look like the one in the center of the photo you linked. I think the crossover point is different in the two tweeters, I'm not sure how that would match up.

Thanks Stimpy. That might allow me to go with that pair for cheaper since they are older. Unless I can get the others for the same price.

You might want to send a direct PM, or a direct email.  Not a huge amount of new info or traffic here, now, so no way of knowing when fredgarvin might visit again, and see your request.

I have a pair of QSO626R's in light oak that look like the ones in the main positions of the picture.

They are kits, and setup for external crossovers and triamp setup.  The rear panel was replaced with a new one with three sets of 5 way binding posts wired to each driver.   It is glued in place.

I installed Aurum Cantus G2 ribbons to replace the originals when the ribbons stretched.  I have put new ribbons in the FST's but could never get it tensioned properly.  I have new Sonigistix panels to go it them, but not installed.  Just needs to be wired to the connectors.

Have the parts for the original standard passive XO to use with them, they just have to be wired up and put in an exterior box like Brian's speaker box stand idea.

I have the original boxes, just not sure how well they have survived but can look.

This is a project, not completed speakers.  I used them with the GR-Research passive XO redesign and a DCX2496 and those worked well.  I am keeping the GR-Research XO's and the DCX2496 for other projects.  The passive parts came from other speaker XO's I have to install.

If this is something of interest, PM me and I will add pictures if interested.

Those look pretty nice HAL. Can you show me the back of them and what I might need to run them? Are they single / bi or tri amped each?

So re reading your post, do you have all the parts to make it a "standard" 626 where the XO is on the inside?

The box is moded to have the XO external.  I have all the original parts, but they have to be outside.  I sealed the L-Pad control holes so the driver loading was correct.
